MAN initiative involve a Network of African higher education institutions affiliated with the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) organization, referred to as MAN institutions and MERLOT partner institutions. This collaborative network of African and US institutions has a primary goals of to conducting educational research leading to best practices in the scholarship of teaching and learning using electronic resources and e-learning repositories.

MERLOT is an international cooperative of professional discipline communities
that collects and makes freely available high-quality online resources to improve learning
and teaching within higher education and K-12 education. Membership and communities include academic
institutions, professional discipline organizations, and individual people building a collection of web-based teaching and learning resources.
