MAN and eLearning Africa announce the opening of nominations for the first MANeLA Awards for Exemplary OER Practices. This annual event presents (1) Leadership Award to individual or group that has made significant advances in the understanding of the issues or innovations surrounding OER and the OER movement, (2) Virtual Laboratory Award to exemplary teaching and learning resources that promotes inquiry-based/discovery learning, internationalization (such as multi-lingual accessibility) and usability, (3) Software for OER Content Authoring Award.  

The judging panel, formed from members of MAN wishes to receive nominations for individuals or groups working in any of the following areas:

  1.  Individuals,Community of Practices (CP) or Common Interest Groups
    that have made significant advances in the understanding of the issues or innovations surrounding OER.

  2. High-quality Interactive Virtual Laboratory Resource
    that promotes  inquiry and discovery learning

  3.  Free Software for OER Content Authoring

Nominations may come from any part of the world.  Preference will be given to OER activities within the past two years. Nominations (with URL/web site), together with an outline of the nominee’s work (approximately 100 words) , should be sent before April 24, 2008 to: manela_awards@subr.edu     

The Awards will be presented during the closing ceremony of the Third eLearning Africa Conference to be held in Accra, Ghana, May 28-30, 2008.
