The MERLOT Africa Network (MAN) recognizes that quality education and the professional development of faculty of the network must be immersed within the discipline communities and institutional culture and be governed by the faculty themselves. With these principles as a foundation,MAN institutions will use the MERLOT International Conference (MIC) and the e-learning Africa international conferences as hub and forums for discussion and dissemination of best practices.
MAN is building on the efforts of MERLOT to empower local campus leaders within disciplines to develop communities of faculty who will discover, review, organize and disseminate exemplary practices for teaching and learning with technology.
The MERLOT Africa Network mailing list has been set up to send announcements, share information and discuss topics related to communication, ICTs, open educational resources (OER) and open access to scholarly publications (OA), and the development of networked partnerships across the globe. These activities are all dedicated towards sustainable social and economic development on the continent of Africa.
MERLOT (Mutlimedia Educational Resources for Learning and Online Teaching) is a leading edge, user-centered, searchable collection of peer reviewed and selected higher education, online learning materials, catalogued by registered members and a set of faculty development support services. MERLOT's vision is to be a premiere online community where faculty, staff, and students from around the world share their learning materials and pedagogy.
The mission of MERLOT Africa Network is to facilitate communities of eLearning expertise and capacity-building for open education, scholarship, and development in Africa.
In keeping with the spirit of openness in the use of communication technologies to create change, we've created this listserv. I've invited you because at some point we've e-mailed before, and I think you might be interested in following this list or contributing to it, because of your interest in development, education, OA or OER, Africa or social change in general. If I was wrong, I apologize for the trouble. You may unsubscribe at any time, so try it out by confirming this invitation.

This is a live webinar. People can participate by registering with TLT; it is free for MERLOT Partners, but you do have to register. An individual can access it on their laptop at home or you can get a group together with a projector to “attend.” The registration fee is waived for MAN member institutions.
