PROMOTING QUALITY OPEN EDUCATION IN AFRICA
& CELEBRATING THE ROLE O WOMEN IN ICT FOR DEVELOPMENT (ICT4D) IN AFRICA

PANEL FOCUS: Essential and powerful lever for sustainable development and capacity building, knowledge is not equally accessible to all. However, the Internet now offers a huge potential for tearing down the barriers to knowledge acquisition, knowledge production, and distributed collaboration, with the availability of open solution tools and progresses in information and communication technologies. The expert Panel WO-MAN will reflect on how the OER movement and ICT for development in general can empower women and will discuss their current initiatives in Africa.

USING THE WORLD EASIEST OER AUTHORING TOOL

LODESTAR

This 5-hours workshop is conducted by the director of lodestar Learning, Robert bilyck. It will train participants to design their own quality-interactive learning resources using the LodeStar software and will plans for workshop follow-ups to empowwer participants so that they can play lealadership roles in their instituions' OER plan and elearning agenda.

STRATEGIC/ SYSTEMIC PLANNING FOR INTEGRATING OER AND MERLOT IN YOUR INSTITUTIONAL eLearning PLAN
Target Audiences: Campus Leadership, eLearning Coordinators,elearning practitioners, Faculty Teaching Online  

This 5-hours workshop is conducted by the CEO of the MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resources for Learning and Online Teaching) International organization, Gerry Hanley. It will cover the best practices for integrating the MERLOT Services as part of your eLearning plans.The participants will develop a plan for integrating the MERLOT OER Collection and how to best use and contribute to the MERLOT Community.
