ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

 

This 5-hours session will cover the best practices for integrating the MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resources for Learning and Online Teaching) Services as part of your eLearning plans. MERLOT provides free services and OER that can enhance your online course delivery and your institutional online offerings. The participants will develop a PLAN for integrating the MERLOT OER Repository and how to best use the MERLOT Repositoryfor and contribute to the MERLOT Community.

Through hands-on experiences and group work,

• Participants develop draft plans for integration OER and MERLOT’s services into their institution’s e-learning projects

• Participants acquire experience in discovering, organizing, and planning the use of OER and using MERLOT

• Participants will feel comfortable and confident in leading the implementation of their plans for using OER and MERLOT in their institution

• Participants will share their strategies and goals with each other and begin or enhance the network of partnerships with other African higher education leaders

• Participants will enjoy the collaboration and learning as they plan innovations that can be implemented as soon as they return to their institution

Gerry Hanley, Executive Director, MERLOT (Multimedia Education Resources for Learning and Online Teaching) & Senior Director California State University -CA, USA -

Gerry Hanley is the Executive Director of Multimedia Education Resources for Learning and Online teacher (MERLOT) International organization. He is Senior Director of Academic Technology Services at California State University Office of the Chancellor, USA. Gerry is also a Professor of Psychology at California State University, Long Beach and also serves as the Director of the Center for Usability In Design and Accessibility (CUDA) at California State University Long Beach. Dr. Hanley received his Ph.D., MA, and BA from State University of New York at Stony Brook.
